"Cate is a gifted teacher of singing and a remarkably versatile musician. She magically identifies subtle ways my body and inner attitudes affect my communication as a professional singing actress. She then gently, but systematically, works to strengthen and relieve those blocks. I value her opinions highly. My only criticism is that there is not enough of her to go around!"

"Cate knows HOW to teach vocal technique, breaking the physical act of singing down into individual steps and then connecting those steps to making music. I consider her both a master teacher and musician. She helped me realize my performance goals, even though I was in the middle of many personal challenges. I know of no other voice teacher in the Washington area who is as effective a singing teacher!"

"Because I've had severe voice problems that resulted in surgery, I've worked with several voice coaches. Cate Frazier-Neely is clearly the best singing teacher yet.
One of Cate's strengths is her ability to analyze your performance and then give you clear, lucid direction. Her ability to communicate clearly about the technical aspects of singing, based on each individual's learning style, is central to her overall skill.
In addition to her technical expertise, she is very supportive of her students outside the lesson. She worked in the recording studio with my producer while I was laying down tracks for my CD, got a Gazette article published on me in August, and has attended some of my restaurant gigs."

"Our daughter, Caitie, first worked privately with Cate when she was 11 years old and was cast as Maria in The Sound of Music at her school. She then continued working with Cate the next 7 years, throughout junior high voice classes at the Levine School of Music, through the former Singer's Center for Girls, and eventually in private lessons again. Our Caitie is now a senior in college at the University of Southern California, majoring in musical theater and French, and still sees Cate for lessons occasionally. Our son, Joe, also worked with Cate privately his senior year.
The Hannon family loves Cate!"

"Cate Frazier-Neely has been my DC-area voice teacher for the past three years, during which my knowledge of the voice, technique, and awareness of my vocal and physical health have increased exponentially. I want to thank her for giving me the basis of how to work with my own voice, as well as how to work with others in my capacities as a teacher and director."

"I am a professional cantor in an established synagogue in the Washington area and have been studying with Cate Frazier-Neely since July, 2005. She is a wonderful and creative teacher who knows both the mechanics of the singing voice and how to approach the individual psychological needs of each singer.
She has a fine musical ear and is very perceptive in addressing the needs of career and professional singers. She is also versatile and flexible, and does not resort to 'One size fits all' vocal exercises.
I am fortunate to have her as my teacher and appreciate all she has done for me."

"I am a baritone juggling a demanding non-musical job, a family, and community service as an elected member of a city council. The last time I took a break from singing it lasted 8 years. A few more "breaks" like that and I won't remember ever having a voice.
I got back into singing over a year ago, with a challenge to keep singing despite the constant pulls of family and job responsibilities. Many years earlier I had been a very active singer in a mid-size city opera company.
Cate Frazier-Neely has been a great coach and teacher. She understands my busy life style and has worked with me to set reasonable goals based on my abilities and time constraints. She teaches me how to practice and gives me exercises that can be done while walking around incognito. And she is always spot-on when choosing songs to fit my voice and musical abilities. And even though lessons are serious, we are always laughing about something.
But what I want to say is this: I've learned that if you have a gift, even a modest one, it is a shame not to develop it and to share it with others. And you receive a gift in return a marvelous physical, mental and emotional experience that can not be compared with anything else. To perform even a few songs is to be part of the Wonder of it all. And not just to sing the songs but to become them is a goal well worth adding to a busy schedule."
